Under Construction!

Hello! This message is from Benjamin Carpenter, speaking on behalf of both myself and London Hughes. We’re currently working on our blog, which will feature articles, photos, announcements, and much more. This space will allow you to keep up with what we’re doing—kind of like a private, self-hosted replacement for Facebook. We plan to share things with the world, but only what we feel comfortable sharing publicly. It’s a more personal, controlled space for us and those who care to follow along.

Benjamin and London

As of now, I don’t have a contact email set up, but I’m working on it! This website probably won’t see major updates until summer when I have more free time to focus on it. In the meantime, you can reach me at this address, which I will maintain until I set up a replacement: jolly-hazy-spool@duck.com.

Website Goals

My goal for this site is to keep it simple and lightweight, relying on minimal HTML and CSS and avoiding heavy frameworks like WordPress. I’m using this experience to learn more about OpenBSD. (If you’re not familiar with it, don’t worry!) What this means is that the site will be fast, simple, and secure.

And just to clarify—yes, I did use ChatGPT to make this page. But I promise, it’s just for this quick initial setup!

Why This Approach?

After being a part of social media for many years (yes, even as a child), I’ve grown increasingly uncomfortable with centralized platforms. I’ve seen firsthand how they operate, and I no longer support them as tools for self-expression. I believe that everyone should have more control over their digital lives, their privacy, and the content they consume. Let's not fool ourselves—Elon’s X is not free speech!

This website is my first step towards reclaiming our online presence and privacy. If you want to contact me, please refrain from using Facebook or Instagram. I no longer actively use Facebook, and if you come across a profile of mine there, it’s a remnant from my past. I’m not there, and I’d prefer if you didn’t message me through those channels. In fact, I plan to take my Instagram down soon as well.

For clarification, this view is mine (Ben), and London might have a differing opinion.
